Today, the forest thins into heath and moorland, opening spectacular views of Kilimanjaro’s northern slopes. Trek along steep ridges and volcanic rock formations as the trail climbs toward Barranco Camp, set in a dramatic valley beneath the towering Barranco Wall. The sense of remoteness and adventure increases with every step, making this day a thrilling challenge for trekkers seeking both beauty and exertion.
Start the day by tackling the Barranco Wall, an exhilarating scramble offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. After conquering the wall, descend into the Karanga Valley, trekking across ridges and valleys before reaching Karanga Camp. The trail today ascends steadily across rocky and sparsely vegetated landscapes, offering striking views of Kibo Peak and the surrounding alpine desert.
